Masuleh (Persian: ماسوله, also romanized as Māsūleh, Masoleh and Masouleh), is a village located in the northern-eastern part of Iran, between green mountains and some of the most stunning landscape in the country, in Gillan province.
Masouleh is a stepped village and has a unique, traditional and untouched architecture. Basically, the buildings have been built on a hill so steep that the roof of the houses are the pathway for the next and they are interconnected. Yards and roofs both serve as pedestrian areas similar to streets.
Masouleh does not allow all kind of motor vehicles to enter, due to its unique layout., likewise, the small streets and many stairs simply also wouldn't make it possible.
