Founded three years ago, Premier Home Studio has already made a significant mark in the world of interior design. With a portfolio that spans luxury apartment renovations in Moscow City and Dubai, exquisite residential projects in Oman, and a sprawling 2000 sq.m hotel design in Sochi, this dynamic partnership has quickly established itself as a trailblazer. Their work has been recognised in top design publications across Russia and the UAE, and their projects have captivated an online audience, with over 140,000 views on YouTube.
The studio is the brainchild of Lyudmila Starchenko and Vlada Krupkina, whose shared passion for aesthetics and architecture brought them together during their university days.
Lyudmila, an architect and designer with 13 years of experience, found in Vlada a skilled organiser and communicator, whose impressive background includes roles in the organising committees of prestigious international events such as the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the Formula 1 Grand Prix, and the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
This perfect blend of creative and organisational expertise gave birth to a design studio that prioritises not only aesthetics but also impeccable execution.
At Premier Home Studio, the philosophy is simple yet profound: to enhance the quality of life through thoughtfully crafted interiors. The team meticulously curates textures, materials, and colours to create spaces that evoke joy and harmony. Their commitment to excellence goes beyond design—they deliver a seamless experience, ensuring every detail, from towels to slippers, is perfectly aligned with the interior.
What sets them apart? Their ability to deliver premium interiors at reasonable costs, all while adding long-term value to the property. Each project is viewed as both a sanctuary and an investment, designed to appreciate over time.
Helena Costa: What led you to pursue your passion for Interior Design?
Vlada Krupkina & Ludmila Starchenko: When traveling around the world, first of all, I have always been struck by beautiful buildings and interiors, these fantasies of an enthusiastic person, clothed in form. And because of the desire for as many people as possible to be inspired by architecture and design, I moved to work in this area.
HC: What do you think are the most important skills for an Interior Designer?
VK & LS: To guess what your client wants, when sometimes he himself cannot express it in words. Stress resistance to solve all problems when implementing ideas and knowledge from related fields: construction, furniture manufacturing, knowledge of materials and how to work with them.
HC: Cultural and natural heritage is what defines us as a people. Do you have any cultural or natural characteristics, a tradition... something that is intrinsic to what you consider to be your "home", your culture and that you have with you when you create or design?
VK & LS: Russian people are demanding, even not rich people want to have a designer: they want to get the best interiors, high-quality finishing materials, new technology, the best joints in the works on the object. Therefore, it forces us to improve our skills and knowledge every day.
HC: Where do you derive your inspirations from?
VK & LS: Inspiration is usually spontaneous, from seeing an interesting piece of furniture or from a beautiful sunset or from a classical music concert in Moscow.
HC: Do you think beauty is something that is accepted by the majority of people or an Interior Designer can decide whether something is beautiful and that’s what matters?
VK & LS: Most people do not have good taste, as they are not sufficiently educated in the field of design, so the designer's mission is also to gently develop customers' taste for beautiful things and stylish solutions.
HC: What are three interior design tricks that you always like to recommend?
VK & LS: I advise everyone to use a combination of different natural textures and metals in the interior, then the interior will be multi-layered. 2nd advice is not to make purely trendy interiors, use basic styles (minimalism, modern, classic) and add trendy details to them. In the specifics of the Russian market, I forbid the use of furniture with a set from one collection. The interior will be much more interesting with a skillful combination of different items.
HC: What are you looking for in furniture pieces for your designs?
VK & LS: Since many Russians love unique pieces of furniture made especially for them, the furniture should be original, comfortable, and pleasant tactile.
HC: What is your most significant achievement in your Interior Designer career to date?
VK & LS: Now we have formed a base of very successful, sophisticated, regular clients, for whom it is a big pleasure to develop interiors. These are beautiful large houses not only in Russia, but also, in Dubai and Baku.
HC: If you were about to be reborn, what would you like to be — Still an Interior Designer?
VK & LS: Yes, This is a multifaceted profession with elements of creativity :)
HC: If a student wanted to enter the field, what advice would you give them?
VK & LS: Be ready to realize not your ambitions, but to recognize and implement the client's ideas. A beginner should know that in addition to being a designer, he should be a psychologist, an electrician, a plumber, a builder, a furniture maker, and a good organizer and communicator. That’s why the designer must be brave and not be afraid of responsibility.
