HC: Can you tell us about your journey in founding Luxurious Designs Studio?

ID: From a young age, I am fascinated by how spaces could evoke emotions and create atmospheres. Whether it was rearranging the furniture in my childhood bedroom or helping friends transform their living rooms, i had a natural talent for seeing the potential in every space. This passion led me to pursue a formal education in interior design, where your creativity blossomed.

  1. The Early Spark
During my studies, I was captivated by how design could influence not just the aesthetics of a space but also the well-being of the people who lived in it. I was inspired by the idea that interior design wasn’t just about making things look beautiful—it was about creating environments that could improve lives. This belief became the cornerstone of my design philosophy.
  2. Gaining Experience
After graduating from Staffordshire university , i worked with a prominent design firm, where I honed my skills and gained valuable experience. I worked on a variety of projects, from cozy residential spaces to upscale commercial environments. But as much as i enjoyed the work, there was always a part of me that wanted more creative freedom. i had a unique vision, and you knew the only way to fully express it was to start my own studio.
  3. Taking the Leap
Starting my own business was a bold move, but I was ready for the challenge. I spent countless hours developing a business plan, identifying my target market, and defining the unique services my studio would offer. I envisioned a space where design wasn’t just about aesthetics but also about functionality, sustainability, and creating environments that truly resonated with the people who used them.
With a clear vision, I launched my studio, LUXURIOUS STUDIO, The early days were challenging. I rented a small office space that reflected my style—luxury contemporary, and inviting. I used My savings to get things started, pouring  my heart into every detail, from the logo design to the layout of my portfolio.
  4. Building My Brand
My first few projects came from word of mouth—friends, family, and former clients who knew My work and believed in my vision. Each project was an opportunity to showcase my unique approach to design, blending creativity with practicality. I was determined to exceed My clients' expectations, and my dedication paid off. With each completed project, my reputation grew, and so did my client base.
I invested time in building my brand, launching a website and using social media to share my projects and design insights. I attended industry events, networked with other professionals, and collaborated with like-minded creatives. MY studio became known for its thoughtful, personalized approach to design, attracting clients who valued quality, attention to detail, and a deep connection to their spaces.
  5. Overcoming Challenges
Running my own studio came with its own set of challenges. I had to balance the creative aspects of my work with the practicalities of running a business. There were late nights, tight budgets, and difficult decisions, but my passion for design and my determination to succeed kept me going. Each challenge was a learning experience, and with each one, I grew stronger and more confident in my abilities.
  6. A Thriving Studio
Today, LUXURIOUS STUDIO is a thriving interior design studio with a portfolio that reflects MY unique style and philosophy. I've built a team that shares my passion for creating spaces that are not just beautiful but also meaningful. My clients trust me to bring their visions to life, knowing that I’ll deliver designs that are as functional as they are stunning.

HC: What key principles guide your design approach at Luxurious Designs Studio?

ID: I approached the project with a deep understanding of the cultural significance of the design elements and a commitment to meeting the clients’ high expectations. My strategy involved a meticulous balance between tradition and modernity, functionality and beauty.

  1. Incorporating Cultural Elements: I began by researching traditional Saudi architecture and design to ensure that the Villa would be deeply rooted in its cultural context. I collaborated with local artisans to create custom mashrabiya screens that were used as room dividers and window treatments, providing both privacy and a connection to the traditional design. Geometric patterns inspired by Islamic art were incorporated into the flooring, wall treatments, and even custom furniture, creating a cohesive look that respected the cultural heritage.
  2. Choosing Climate-Resistant Materials: Given Riyadh’s climate, I selected materials that could withstand the heat while maintaining their aesthetic appeal. For the exterior, I chose stone and stucco that reflected the traditional architecture of the region but were treated to resist weathering. Inside, I opted for cool marble flooring and carefully selected fabrics that were both luxurious and durable. Large, shaded outdoor areas were designed to offer comfortable spaces for relaxation, even during the hottest parts of the day.
  3. Seamless Integration of Technology: To meet the clients’ desire for a technologically advanced home, I worked with smart home experts to integrate the latest systems for lighting, climate control, security, and entertainment. These systems were concealed within the design to maintain the Villa’s aesthetic integrity. For example, the lighting was designed to be both functional and decorative, with hidden LED strips accentuating the mashrabiya screens and custom light fixtures that reflected traditional motifs.
  4. Managing Scale and Complexity: Given the size and complexity of the project, meticulous project management was crucial. I coordinated with various contractors, artisans, and suppliers to ensure that every detail was executed to perfection. Regular site visits and close communication with the clients ensured that the project stayed on track and aligned with their vision. Custom furniture and decor pieces were designed to fit the Villa’s scale, ensuring that each space felt both grand and intimate.

HC: How do you ensure that each project reflects the client's personality and lifestyle?
ID: We believe the best designers are those who design with empathy; the ones who work hard to understand their client and the project. Designing with empathy requires a careful understanding of each of our clients’ personalities and their needs and wishes for their project.

These requirements change from person to person, project to project and country to country—no one size fits all. That’s why we’re proud that our design philosophy embraces a personalised approach; creating interiors that each of our clients can recognise as uniquely theirs.

We regularly use digital technology to work with our clients, near and far, which is why we continually invest in our technology platforms, tools and infrastructure. These tools allow us to work on remote and international projects as naturally as we would local projects, ensuring that we can design your home without you ever having to leave.

HC: Could you describe a particularly challenging project you've worked on and how you overcame those challenges?
ID: One of the most challenging yet fulfilling projects i took on was the interior design of a new luxury Villa in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The clients, a prominent family, wanted their villa to be a blend of modern elegance and traditional Saudi elements, a space that would reflect their cultural heritage while offering all the comforts of contemporary living. The project was ambitious, with the Villa covering a vast area, including multiple living spaces, guest suites, a home cinema, and extensive outdoor areas. The expectations were high, and the challenges were numerous.

Designing this Villa presented several unique challenges:

  1. Cultural Sensitivity and Aesthetic Balance: The clients wanted the Villa to incorporate traditional Saudi design elements such as intricate mashrabiya screens, geometric patterns, and locally sourced materials, but they also desired a modern, minimalist aesthetic that was in line with international luxury standards.
  2. Climate Considerations: Riyadh’s harsh climate, with extreme heat and occasional sandstorms, required special attention to materials and design elements that could withstand the environment while maintaining comfort and style.
  3. Integration of Technology: The family wanted the Villa to feature cutting-edge smart home technology, seamlessly integrated without disrupting the traditional aesthetics of the design.
  4. Large Scale and Complexity: The sheer size of the Villa and the complexity of coordinating various aspects of the project, including custom furniture, bespoke artwork, and advanced lighting systems, added layers of difficulty.
